Vintage Kasuri Tote

This one-of-a-kind tote features a patchwork panel made with vintage fabric from Japan called Kasuri. This perfectly-sized bag is soft and light, complementing any outfit.
The pieces of indigo Kasuri was hand-sewn together using a stitch called Sashiko. This decorative/mending stitch originated in Japan in the Edo period (1603 – 1868). The raw edges of the Kasuri are exposed, creating an organic and natural feel. The Kasuri shows some age and wear which adds to the bag’s unique charm.
The tote is fully lined and has two interior pockets. This is a custom-made tote and only one has been made.

100% Cotton fabric, lining and thread.

Gold fabric: 100% Japanese cotton
Lining: 100% Japanese cotton
Cotton sashiko thread is used for the sashiko
